ACT-ion

Ready-Aim-Fire VS. Ready-FIRE-Aim. [Hint: Fire = Action]

We live in a society full of preparation. We prepare 12 + 4 tumultuous years of education to prepare us to become adults. We prepare for war. We prepare for vacations. We make preparations for weddings. We prepare meal plans. When we prepare we plan for success.

At least, that's the plan. The plan of action. but there's no ACT in plan.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the motion of planning that we forget to ACT. Sometimes we spend the better part of our life getting educated in our subject that when the time arrives to take action you've outgrown the interest.

It's the reason we find men studying law in their 40's. It's the reason people in their 50's form businesses. They planned and planned and failed to ACT on those interests that they held most dear to their heart.

There is no greater advice in this world than to just take action. It's the reason Nike is a multi-million dollar company even in the midst of its sweatshop regulations. "Just Do It." has got to be the absolute best slogan there ever has or will be.  The swoosh sign symbolizes a check sign. Done, dealt with, done deal.  It's name alone is Greek for Victory. Who wouldn't want to be doing business with a winner? Who wouldn't want to befriend someone (or some shoe) for telling them JUST DO IT!

Whenever I fall off track I always take on this approach from Jack Canfield's  The Success Principles:

THE POWER OF 5

Everyday do five specific things that will move your goal toward completion.

If you wrote 5 pages a day for 30 days, you'd have 150 pages.
If you read 5 pages for 365 days, you'd have read 1810 pages read.
If you made 5 sales calls a day, you're bound to have made a sale.
If you ran just 5 minutes a day for 7 days, you'd have ran 35 minutes (sometimes we need to take baby steps)
If you read 5 minutes of inspirational material, 5 minutes of meditating and 5 minutes of praying you grew 15 minutes richer spiritually.

What can you do with five litle minutes? Five little tasks? What can you achieve after five little weeks?
